MAST is pleased to announce a 2026 Complete Streets Implementation Grant opportunity. A total of $165,000 is available to support complete streets construction or non-infrastructure activities in the Monadnock Region of New Hampshire. The Monadnock Region includes communities of the Southwest Region Planning Commission planning district as delineated by the New Hampshire Office of Planning and Development. This is a reimbursement program and is administered by staff from Southwest Region Planning Commission and Cheshire Medical Center.
As in past years, funding is available to communities that have adopted a complete streets policy for infrastructure-related grants as well as non-infrastructure purposes such as planning, preliminary engineering, community education, “pop-up” or temporary projects, demonstration events, and encouragement activities. Those municipalities that have not yet adopted a complete streets policy may apply for technical assistance to develop and adopt one.
What are Complete Streets?
Complete streets are those that are safe and accessible for users of all ages and abilities, regardless of how they choose to travel. It is a context-sensitive approach to transportation planning and design that balances the needs of people walking, bicycling, driving a car, riding public transit, using wheelchairs or other mobility devices, etc. To learn more, please visit the Complete Streets page or download the Complete Streets Brochure.
Project Selection Process
The MAST Steering Committee has established a Subcommittee to review, score, and rank applications and make funding award recommendations to the Steering Committee. As part of its review, the Complete Streets Subcommittee may seek clarifying information from applicants in order to fully understand and rank proposals. The Steering Committee will consider the recommendations of the Complete Streets Subcommittee and approve grant awards this fall.
