Complete Streets Subcommittee

Complete Streets: Designed with everyone in mind!

Overview

Complete streets are streets that provide safe and easy access for users of all ages and abilities, regardless of their mode of transportation. It is an approach to planning, design, construction, and maintenance of the transportation network that considers the surrounding land use context and travel patterns in order to balance the needs of all users.  To learn more about Complete Streets, please visit our Complete Streets resource page, the National Complete Streets Coalition website, or the Small Town and Rural Multimodal Networks online design guide.

Project Description

The Monadnock Alliance for Sustainable Transportation (MAST) anticipates receiving a grant from the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation “You Have Our Trust” (YHOT) fund.  The purpose of this grant is to support one or more Complete Streets implementation projects in Southwest New Hampshire communities that have adopted a Complete Streets policy.  At their October 2017 meeting, the MAST Steering Committee authorized a MAST Subcommittee to oversee the project selection process for the Complete Streets implementation grant.  The role of the MAST Subcommittee will be to develop project selection criteria and select projects by scoring and ranking proposals received from applicants.  The final decision to award funds will be made by the MAST Steering Committee.

Time Commitment and Timeframe

Subcommittee members should expect to attend a minimum of four meetings between December 2017 and October 2018.  The subcommittee may choose to schedule additional meetings to complete tasks.  In addition, subcommittee members are expected to spend some time outside of meetings responding to email correspondence about the implementation grant and to individually score projects.  The subcommittee may also decide to conduct interviews and/or site visits in order to select a proposal or proposals to receive the grant funds.  This will be determined by subcommittee members based on need and subcommittee members’ availability to conduct these activities.

Meeting Schedule
